Knut Fest in Hütschenhausen

Celebrating the “Knut Fest” is a Swedish tradition to dispose of Christmas trees that are no longer needed. In collaboration with the Hütschenhausen dog association the community of Hütschenhausen carries on this Swedish tradition and organizes the “Knut Fest” for the 7th time this year. The festival takes place on the grounds of the dog association which are located on the outskirts of the village. The event starts at 7 p.m. Visitors can participate in a long throw competition of Christmas trees. Glühwein (mulled wine), bratwurst, meat patties and beverages are offered. Musical entertainment will be provided. Interested people are invited to bring along their old Christmas trees without any decoration between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. For each delivered tree a coupon can be obtained for a cup of Glühwein. Residents of Hütschenhausen, Spesbach and Katzenbach can have their trees picked up in front of their house on January 12 if they send an email to info@huetschenhausen.de by January 8. After the official opening of the festival by the Hütschhausen mayor Matthias Mahl, all collected Christmas trees will be burned down. Free admission!

Loners United – Tribute to Neil Young – at Congress Center Ramstein

Neil Young on tour in Germany...?? It would be nice...! But at least his music can be heard when the band “Loners United” brings the songs of the master on stage. Neil Young is a singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is considered an important folk musician. His music encompasses other genres such as rock and country music. The four members of “Loners United“ have put together a varied setlist of his best-known songs. The concert starts at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. The concert hall is partially provided with bar tables and bar stools. Pre-sale tickets are € 15 and at the door € 18. Weekly Fruit and Vegetable Market in Kaiserslautern

Weekly markets have been held around the Kaiserslautern Collegiate Church for hundreds of years. A photo from 1929 shows the weekly market on Stiftsplatz (market square), where it has been held since the mid-19th century to the present day. The weekly market takes place every Tuesday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Kaiserslautern´s Stiftsplatz. Fresh and organic groceries such as fruits, vegetables, cheese, fish, meat and sausage products can be purchased. Baked goods as well as flowers and plants are available. Visitors are invited to browse around and experience the lovely atmosphere.
