Knut Fest in Hütschenhausen
Celebrating the “Knut Fest” is a Swedish tradition to dispose of Christmas trees that are no longer needed. In collaboration with the Hütschenhausen dog association the community of Hütschenhausen carries on this Swedish tradition. Since several years the community organizes a “Knut Fest” in January. Interested people are invited to bring along their old Christmas trees without any decoration between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. For each delivered tree a coupon can be obtained for a cup of Glühwein. Residents of Hütschenhausen, Spesbach and Katzenbach can have their trees picked up in front of their house on January 10 if they send an email to info@huetschenhausen.de by January 5. The festival takes place on the grounds of the dog association which are located on the outskirts of the village. The event starts at 7 p.m. Visitors can participate in a long throw competition of Christmas trees. Glühwein (mulled wine), snacks like bratwurst, and beverages are offered. Musical entertainment will be provided by the brass and percussion band “Phoenixkrechzer”. After the official opening of the festival by the Hütschhausen mayor Achim Wätzold, all collected Christmas trees will be burned down. Free admission!
