Thursday, April 27.:
The ”Youth Symphony Orchestra of Kaiserslautern County” hosts a concert at the SWR Studio Kaiserslautern starting at 7 p.m. The orchestra was founded on the initiative of Kristina Schier, the director of the Kaiserslautern Kreismusikschule (District Music School) in March 2020. The conductor is Dr. Matthew Reese, who is supported by a team of teachers from the Kreismusikschule and volunteers from the USAFE Band. Anyone is welcome to participate. Rehearsals are held on Mondays at the Sickingen Gymnasium Landstuhl (academic high school). Since the orchestra consists of both German and English attendees, the rehearsals are bilingual. The concert program starts with the orchestra "Sinfonietta" that consists of 29 young musicians who present works such as “The Ash Grove”, “Land of my Fathers”, “Martial Air” and others. The main orchestra with 44 participants plays in the second part. Its repertoire includes pieces by composers like Händel, Ungar, Bach, Tschaikowsky and Elmer Bernstein. Free admission, donations are welcome!

Saturday, April 29. - Monday, Mai 1.:
The medieval market is held on the premises of the game park in Freisen and features large knight and Viking camps. The young and the old are invited to experience history first-hand, as the clocks will be turned back to the Middle Ages. The entertainment program includes exhibition fights as well as performances of jugglers, dancers and medieval musicians with drums and bagpipes. An animation program for children is provided as well. Visitors can look over the craftsmen´s shoulders presenting ancient handicraft. Traders offer a wide range of goods for sale. A great choice of medieval specialties and beverages is available, too. The market takes place on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m., on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Entrance fee is € 10 for adults. Sunday, April 30.:
In cooperation with the Zentrum Pfälzerwald Touristik the House of Sustainability hosts a great outdoor event from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Families and individuals can look forward to many exciting join-in activities, musical entertainment as well as culinary delights. The Kaiserslautern Zoo presents a spectacular birds of prey show at 1 p.m. Sports enthusiasts can test the latest outdoor trends, expand their knowledge about their favorite outdoor sport and can put their skills to the proof with special exercises. Amidst of the Palatinate Forest Biosphere Reserve, experts will teach visitors about nature, forestry, sustainability and tourism in a playful way. Furthermore, two different mountain bike tours as well as two health hikes are offered. Participation is free of charge. The “Brass Cats” are a brass ensemble founded in 1992 with musicians from all over the Palatinate region aged between 21 and 64. In addition to their different full-time activities, the ensemble pursues a common goal: the interpretation of musical works from all genres in 10-piece lineup. Their repertoire includes original compositions as well as arrangements from the Renaissance to works by contemporary composers. In summer 2014, Malte Müller, trombonist at the Kaiserslautern Pfalztheater, took over the musical direction. The “Brass Cats” perform at various festivities and receptions as well as secular and sacred concerts but also co-operate with choirs, ensembles, and solo artists. Within the context of their participation in the German Orchestra Competition of the German Music Council, the “Brass Cats” have already won first prize for the 4th time and were awarded the title of best German brass ensemble in the amateur category.
