Saturday, June 3 - Sunday, June 4:

Medieval Spectacle in Obermoschel

The Castle Ruin of Moschellandsburg is the perfect venue for the medieval market which is held for the 22nd time. The young and the old are invited to experience an authentic reenactment of the Middle Ages. The market features craftsmen, musicians, knights, jugglers and Viking camps. Traders offer a wide range of goods for sale. Visitors can look over the craftsmen´s shoulder presenting ancient handicraft. Exhibition fights of armed warriors, an archery tournament and other games guarantee great fun for the whole family. The highlight of this event is the torchlight procession followed by a spectacular fire show at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. Medieval food and beverages are available. Opening hours of the medieval market are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Admission fee for medieval dressed people and children until 14 years is 5 € (weekend ticket € 9). Adults pay € 8 (weekend ticket € 14). Kids with a height of up to 55 inch have free admission. Parking available below the castle ruin.

Wine Hike in Grünstadt-Sausenheim

The wine hike in Grünstadt-Sausenheim, first held in 2004, is one of the best-known and most popular wine hikes along the northern part of the German Wine Street. It traditionally takes place on the first weekend in June. Numerous guests from near and far are expected to attend the event. Along the loop trail of approx. 5.5 km (3.4 miles) eight stations of local wineries will offer their selected wines and specialties such as Palatinate yeast dumplings, tarte flambée, spit roast, asparagus salad, flame-grilled salmon, coffee and cakes and much more. Visitors who purchase a wine tasting pass including a souvenir glass can taste one wine of their choice at each station. The wine tasting pass is available for € 20 at each stand. Holders of a wine tasting card can participate in a raffle and win attractive non-cash prizes, if the card is completely stamped, provided with address data and is handed in by 6 p.m. at one of the stations. The purchase of a wine pass is not mandatory for participation in the hike! On both days of the event, a shuttle bus will run between Grünstadt train station and the hiking trail from 9.45 a.m. to 7.15 p.m. every half an hour. The event starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

English Guided Tour in Kaiserslautern

The Tourist Information Kaiserslautern offers a guided tour through the Count Palatinate Hall with the subterranean tunnels. The tour will take you to the history and culture of the ancient times of “K-town”. It starts with a visit of the Count Palatinate Hall of the former Casimir Castle, where official receptions of the city are held today. Afterwards you descend to the subterranean tunnels. These passages are approx. 70 meters long. The tunnels are equipped with illuminated boards and sound effects illustrating the history of Kaiserslautern. The tour starts at 11.15 a.m. and takes approx. 1.5 hours. Meeting Point for the tour is the Tourist Information in Kaiserslautern. Participation fee is € 5 for adults, discounted tickets are € 4. Sunday, June 4:

“Time Travel” - English Tour in Otterberg

Get on the rustic, horse-drawn covered wagon, and travel back in time through the city of Otterberg. The tour combines tradition and modern age. With virtual reality glasses you immerse yourself in days gone by: from the time of the monastery in 1254 to the Walloon town in 1615. Imagine the wind in your face, feel the jerking of the wagon, hear the clattering of the horses' hooves, and feel completely transported back to the past. After the carriage ride, a visit to the stately Otterberg Abbey Church awaits you as part of an English guided tour. Here you learn about the exciting history of the church, and you experience the incomparable atmosphere, live, no longer virtually but the real present-day occurrences. The “Time Travel” tour takes approx. 1.5 hours. Desired dates for a group of 10 people or more can be arranged upon request. Participation fee is € 45 for adults and € 40 for children and students.
