Friday, May 29:

Guided Tour of Kaiserslautern Main Cemetery in English

The guided tour of the Kaiserslautern Main Cemetery, including the old Jewish Cemetery, gives an insight into Kaiserslautern's cemetery culture and history. The round tour leads to splendid tombstones and important public figures in Kaiserslautern's town history. Male visitors are asked to bring some headwear. The tour will take place even in light rain. If the weather conditions are too bad, the tour will be cancelled. The tour starts at 3 p.m. and takes approx. 1.5 hours. Meeting point for the tour is at the Kaiserslautern Main Cemetery at the blessing hall next to the main entrance (address: Donnersbergstrasse 78, 67657 Kaiserslautern). Participation fee is € 7 for adults; the reduced fee is € 6. Prior registration is required. Saturday, May 30:

Intercultural Breakfast at Congress Center Ramstein

The Ramstein Youth Office organizes an “Intercultural Breakfast” at CCR from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Families and individuals, no matter from which country, are cordially invited to the intercultural meeting with joint breakfast. It is a good opportunity to get to know each other. The entertainment program includes stage performances and join-in activities. Participants are welcome to make a contribution to the breakfast by bringing a typical treat or specialty of their country. Contributions to the stage program, e.g. a traditional song or a dance performance of their country of origin, are welcome as well. Registration is required by May 22. Sunday, May 31:

Guided Tour in English: “Franz von Sickingen and Nanstein Castle”

The certified tourist guide Ulli Heist offers a tour around Nanstein Castle with the motto: “The Last Knight Franz von Sickingen and Nanstein Castle”. Learn about more than 500 years of history of the castle and hear stories about the last knight Franz von Sickingen. In good weather, visitors have a great view, and they can get some additional information about the city of Landstuhl in the valley. Registration is not required. The tour starts at 10 a.m. and takes approximately 90 minutes. The participation fee is € 5 for adults. In addition to that, the admission for the castle must be paid at the castle entrance. Children under 14 are free of charge if they are accompanied by their parents. Meeting point for the tour is the cannon tower of the castle next to the parking lot.

Sunday, May 31:

Culinary Hike in Kottweiler-Schwanden

The local community of Kottweiler-Schwanden is organizing a hike along the “Kottenweg” trail. The “Kottenweg” trail is approximately 16 km long and forms a figure-of-eight curve. Both loops meet at the community center of the village. Hikers have the option of taking one of the two routes, each approximately 8 km long. The starting point of the hike is the community center, where there is ample parking space. Along the way, people can take numerous shortcuts depending on their preference and level of fitness (see red markings on the flyer online). Saturday, June 6:

Guided City Tour of Ramstein in English

Explore the town center of Ramstein and hear about the historic development of the former farming village into a modern and international city. You will get to see traces of the past and the oldest buildings in town. Besides that, the tour provides lots of information about present urban development and leisure activities. The event is family-friendly and free of charge! Please wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to explore the city walking. As a goody a cool drink and snack will be offered at the end of the tour at the German-American Friendship Festival. The event with live music by the jazz ensemble "Free Grove“ of the United States Army Europe and Africa Band and Chorus as well as the rock band "Frantic" takes place at John-F.-Kennedy-Square in the center of Ramstein. You are welcome to stay and enjoy the festival atmosphere with free admission!

The “Welcome to Rheinland-Pfalz” state program is the sponsor of the tour. It will be carried out by the “Window to Rheinland-Pfalz” information center of the City of Ramstein-Miesenbach. The tour starts at 3 p.m.
