Saturday, June 24:

Family Day in Ramstein-Miesenbach

The “Family Day” event provides a varied offer of information, attractions and join-in activities for children, youths, and families. The event will take place inside and outside the Congress Center Ramstein from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Institutions, organizations, and associations present themselves with information booths. For children and youths, a game and activity program provides lots of options to participate: street soccer, street basketball, as well as table soccer, billiards, table tennis and much more will be available. The Ramstein Youth Red Cross and the Ramstein Youth Fire Department demonstrate their activities with join in the games. Kids can enjoy bouncy castles, raffles, and rallies as well as game and creativity workshops. Additionally, musical entertainment and culinary delicacies are offered. Ramstein Air Base is also represented by several institutions. You and your family are cordially invited by the patrons of the event, the county administrator Ralf Lessmeister and the mayor of the city of Ramstein-Miesenbach, Ralf Hechler. Free admission!

Saturday, June 24 – Sunday, June 25:

Medieval Market at Lichtenberg Castle in Thallichtenberg

At the historic Lichtenberg Castle visitors will be taken back to the Middle Ages. The official opening of the medieval market starts with gun salutes on Saturday at 2 p.m. The market features a large knight camp throughout the courtyard, demonstrations of blacksmiths and living history inside the castle tower. The entertainment program includes medieval music and dance performances, exhibition fights, archery, and a lot more. A children´s program is offered, too. Food and beverages according to ancient recipes are available. The market takes place on Saturday from noon until 11 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Entrance fee is € 7 for adults and € 5 for children and medieval dressed. Kids up to a height of 1.20 m have free entrance. Parking fee is € 2.

Saturday, June 24 – Sunday, June 25:

Arts and Wine Market in Harxheim

The quaint village of Harxheim hosts a wonderful arts and wine market. Culinary dishes and wine from the Zellertal region are available along the festival mile. The event starts at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Live music program entertains the visitors from 8 p.m. A magical light show takes place at 10.30 p.m. On Sunday the festival starts with a church service at 10 a.m. From 11 a.m. on more than 40 exhibitors and vendors offer goods and items like paintings, ceramics, woodwork, wickerwork, needlework, jewelry, doll clothes, sculptures and much more. A children´s program is provided on Sunday, too. An art exhibition can be visited on both days. Great atmosphere is guaranteed.

English Guided Tour around Landstuhl Nanstein Castle

The certified tourist guide Ulli Heist offers a tour around Nanstein Castle with the motto: “The Last Knight Franz von Sickingen and Nanstein Castle”. Learn something about more than 500 years of history of the castle and hear stories about the last knight Franz von Sickingen. In 2023 the city of Landstuhl commemorates the 500th anniversary of the death of Franz von Sickingen who died at Nanstein Castle in 1523. In good weather, visitors have a great view and they can get some additional information about the city (Landstuhl) in the valley. Registration is not required. The tour starts at 10 a.m. and lasts approximately 90 minutes. Meeting point for the tour is the cannon tower of the castle next to the parking lot.

Sunday, June 25:

Open Garden Doors in Jettenbach and the local Region

This Sunday lots of private owners will open their garden doors for visitors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Throughout this time the public is invited to show up without reservation at the participating gardens and explore them. The gardens will be quite varied in their styles reaching from kitchen gardens, fruit and vegetable gardens, family gardens, gardens with Mediterranean atmosphere up to gardens with elaborate decoration, gardens presenting works of arts as well as paradises for birds, insects, and other animals. The village of Jettenbach celebrates its 675th anniversary this Sunday. Besides many open garden doors there will be a varied program offered in Jettenbach: presentations of arts and crafts as well as culinary delights, food and drinks. Following three different walking trails through the village marked in different colors you can explore all attractions and exhibition areas. The opening reception of the Jettenbach event will take place in the garden of the Blum Family (address: Zum Wasserhaus 9, 66887 Jettenbach) at 11 a.m. Parking is available at the cemetery, at Dreschplatz, the sports ground and in the streets of the village.
