Exhibition “HOUSING - Change of Residence” at Docu Center Ramstein

The Docu Center Ramstein shows its new exhibition “HOUSING - Change of Residence”. Hahn Air Base closed in 1993 - but what became of the “housing”, the many residences once occupied by US military personnel and filled with their daily routine? Photographer Michael Bertram set out to explore the past, turning his lens toward the former airfield, uncovering a compelling chapter of post-Cold War history. After the withdrawal of US forces and their families, Russia German families moved into those very homes. A subtle shift - from West to East - transformed the landscape and atmosphere of Hahn. Bertram captures the transition and unique intersection of histories, identities, and homes. The official opening of the exhibition takes place on Saturday, July 12 at 2 p.m. The exhibition can be visited until November 9, 2025, during the opening hours of Docu Center Ramstein. These are Tuesday to Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
