Thursday, September 1 – Saturday, September 3:

Barbarossa Fest – Swinging Lautern – in Kaiserslautern

The city center of Kaiserslautern turns into a visitor magnet for all those who love swing music. On several stages a top-class music program including jazz, swing, soul, blues, and rock ´n` roll invites the visitors to sway along until late in the evening. Marching bands entertain the pedestrians while they go for a stroll through the shopping area. Participating stores present fashion shows and offer many other activities and special actions. Throughout the event area, various booths of renowned catering companies offer delicacies and beverages for all tastes. Experience the lively and welcoming atmosphere of the Barbarossa city. The event starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday and at 11 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. The program ends at 11 p.m. each day. Free admission to the event!

Friday, September 2 – Saturday, September 3:

Sickingen Highland Music Festival at Nanstein Castle

This weekend, the Sickingen Highland Music Festival takes place at Nanstein Castle for the 7th time. The organizers are looking forward to welcome you to enjoy two days of music, party and fun. On Friday, bands such as “Gloria Ade” and the “Die Dicken Kinder” will provide live music on stage. On Saturday party feeling is guaranteed by one of the best “U2” cover bands called “2U”. Afterwards, “Mr. Irish Bastard” will entertain the audience with punk, folk and rock music. Finally, the “K-Town Pipe Band” performs pipe and drum sounds until the end of the festival. Food and beverages are provided. Visitors can even get a taste of famous Irish beer and Scottish whiskey. Admittance is at 7 p.m. on both days. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the bookstore "Stützel" in Landstuhl (Am Alten Markt 11, 66849 Landstuhl). Entrance fee per person is € 10 on Friday and € 18 on Saturday.

Friday, September 2 – Tuesday, September 6:

Kusel Fair

The official opening of the fair takes place Friday night at 8.30 p.m. with the tapping of the keg. Young and old visitors can enjoy carnival rides and attractions on the funfair. A large number of booths offer candy, food and beverages as well as various other products and items. Musical entertainment is presented by different bands each day. On Saturday at 3 p.m. a big festival parade leads through the city center of Kusel. On Sunday at 10 a.m. a brass concert puts the audience in the right mood for the pre-lunch drink in the festival tent. Stores are open for Sunday shopping from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. Again on Monday visitors gather in the festival tent for the traditional pre-lunch drink from 11 a.m. Tuesday is family day with reduced prices for the fun rides. The fair ends with a fireworks display on Tuesday at approx. 9.30 p.m.

Saturday, September 3:

“Time Travel” – English Tour in Otterberg

Get on the rustic, horse-drawn covered wagon, and travel back in time through the city of Otterberg. The tour combines tradition and modern age. With virtual reality glasses you immerse yourself in days gone by: from the time of the monastery in 1254 to the Walloon town in 1615. Imagine the wind in your face, feel the jerking of the wagon, hear the clattering of the horses' hooves, and feel completely transported back to the past. After the carriage ride, a visit to the stately Otterberg Abbey Church awaits you as part of an English guided tour. Here you learn about the exciting history of the church, and you experience the incomparable atmosphere, live, no longer virtually but the real present-day occurrences. The “Time Travel” tour takes approx. 1.5 hours and is offered twice, at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 3. Desired dates for a group of 10 people or more can be arranged upon request. Saturday, September 3:

English Guided Tour in Kaiserslautern

The Tourist Information Kaiserslautern offers a guided tour through the Count Palatinate Hall with the subterranean tunnels. The tour will take you to the history and culture of the ancient times of “K-town”. It starts with a visit of the Count Palatinate Hall of the former Casimir Castle, where official receptions of the city are held today. Afterwards you descend to the subterranean tunnels. These passages are approx. 70 meters long. The tunnels are equipped with illuminated boards and sound effects illustrating the history of Kaiserslautern. The tour starts at 11.15 a.m. and takes approx. 1.5 hours. Meeting Point for the tour is the Tourist Information (Address: Fruchthallstrasse 14, 67655 Kaiserslautern). Participation fee is € 5 for adults, the reduced fee is € 4. Prior registration is required. Sunday, September 4:

Open House at Ramstein Fire Department

The Ramstein fire department cordially invites you to its open house event from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Since 1867 the fire department is on duty and safes people´s life within the Union Community of Ramstein-Miesenbach. Hands-on experiences such as operating a fire nozzle, a fire extinguisher and a hydraulic rescue cutter are offered and guarantee great practice for the whole family. The entertainment program furthermore includes guided tours through the fire station as well as a tool, equipment, and a fire truck exhibition. A special program for children is provided as well. Food, beverages, coffee, and cakes are available. Admission free!
