Saturday, September 21 – Sunday, September 22:

European Farmers’ Market in Konken

The European Farmers’ Market hosted by the Kusel County is held in the village of Konken this year. More than 100 vendors present a wide range of local products such as game, fish, cheese, fruits, fruit juices, beer and a lot more. Besides local farmers, also exhibitors from Finland, Poland, Hungary, Italy and France offer goods and culinary specialties characteristic for their countries. The market features live musical entertainment and presentations of potters, basket makers, rope makers and others. Animals such as cows, chicken, goats and sheep enrich the exhibition. Market hours are Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. The village roads will be blocked for all motorized traffic this weekend. Friday, September 20 – Sunday, September 22:

Culinary Wine Hike in Freinsheim

Freinsheim is a quaint and picturesque village at the German Wine Street. A 7 km (4.4 miles) long trail leads through the wonderful vineyards of Freinsheim. Along the circular path hikers can taste selected wines of the local vintners and try Palatinate specialties offered at 18 stopover points. Starting point of the trail is the historic city hall. The city hall is also the venue where the event will be officially opened by the wine princess at 11.30 a.m. on Saturday. The booths along the trail open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and from 11.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday the stores of the village host a Sunday shopping event from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The town center is closed to traffic during the event. Parking is available at the outskirts of town.
