Culinary Wine Hike in Freinsheim

As the warm autumn sun streams through the vineyards, the wine-growing year draws to a close. The landscape is bathed in golden light, and the grape harvest is in full swing. During this beautiful time of year, you are cordially invited to hike through the magnificent vineyards of Freinsheim. Hiking enthusiasts can look forward to a 7 km (4.4 miles) long trail. Along the circular path hikers can taste selected wines of the local vintners and try Palatinate specialties offered at 18 stopover points. Starting point of the trail is the historic city hall (address: Hauptstrasse 2, 67251 Freinsheim). The booths along the trail open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Stores open for Sunday shopping from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The town center is closed to traffic during the event. Parking is available on the outskirts of the village. It is recommended to take a train to Freinsheim. Free participation! Saturday, September 26:

Teenager Clothing Bazaar in Ramstein

Once again, the association “Förderkreis Heimatmuseum der VG Ramstein-Miesenbach” hosts its traditional and popular Yeast Dumpling Fest. It takes place at Steinwenden´s landmark “Römerturm”, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. People can enjoy steamed yeast dumplings served with wine or vanilla sauce that are a traditional Palatinate specialty. Home-made dishes such as potato soup, cheese and sausage sandwiches are offered too. Also, cakes, pies, freshly baked waffles as well as beverages, freshly tapped beer and different wines are available. Visitors are invited to browse through the little book bazaar that is held additionally. Live musical entertainment is provided by solo singer Matthias. Free admission!

Sunday, September 27:

Farmers’ Market in Schneckenhausen

While strolling through the farmers' market, visitors can discover a wide variety of products, most of which come from the local region. More than 50 booths showcase their offerings such as fruits, vegetables, farm-baked bread, herbs, pumpkins, honey, jellies, cheese, fish, and much more. In addition, decorative items, woodwork, pottery, wool, and jewelry as well as tools and craftsmen supplies can be purchased. People are invited to watch demonstrations of an old fruit press and taste freshly pressed apple juice. The children´s program includes face painting, calligraphy and hand spinning. Enjoy culinary delights and sample the flavor of homemade cakes. The farmers` market features a family-friendly program and takes place on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
