Red Wine Hike in Freinsheim

This year for the first time the Red Wine Hike takes place on two weekends in a row. Fresh air, delicacies and excellent red wines are guaranteed! The event starts with a torchlight parade on Friday evening at 6 p.m. Torches are sold in front of the historic city hall. From there the parade leads to the first booth of the actual hiking trail. The trail has a length of 4.3 miles and leads through the wonderful vineyards of Freinsheim. Along the loop road, participants can sample selected wines and Glühwein (mulled wine) of the local vintners and enjoy Palatinate specialties offered at 13 stopover points. The booths along the trail are open from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and from 11:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors can easily get to Freinsheim by train.

Saturday, January 24:

“One Night of ELVIS” – The Elvis Presley Tribute Show in Kusel

Elvis Presley is alive and undisputedly the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll! Singer Eric Prinzinger and his band bring his immortal music to the stage. The audience can look forward to an evening of countless hits paying homage to the good old rock ‘n’ roll. The event is also a birthday celebration: This year in January Elvis would have turned 91. Entertainer Eric Prinzinger has the right groove for that mixture of rhythm, blues and gospel that forms the basis of almost all of Elvis Presley's well-known songs. It is probably fate that Eric Prinzinger and Elvis Presley share the same initials. Saturday, January 24:

Weekly Fruit and Vegetable Market in Kaiserslautern

Weekly markets have been held around the Kaiserslautern Collegiate Church for hundreds of years. A photo from 1929 shows the weekly market on Stiftsplatz (market square), where it has been held since the mid-19th century to the present day. The weekly market takes place every Tuesday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Kaiserslautern´s Stiftsplatz. Fresh and organic groceries such as fruits, vegetables, cheese, fish, meat and sausage products can be purchased. Baked goods as well as flowers and plants are available. Visitors are invited to browse around and experience the lovely atmosphere.
