Friday, October 20 – Monday, October 30:

Kaiserslautern October Fair

The Kaiserslautern fair has the reputation of being the biggest folk festival in Western Palatinate. Annually, the fairground offering a large variety of rides for children and adults allures many people to Kaiserslautern´s Messeplatz. Visitors can enjoy a huge fun mile featuring a roller coaster, a giant Ferris wheel, merry-go-rounds and many other fun rides. A large number of vendors provide culinary specialties, candies, products of arts and crafts, spices, household articles and much more. The fair starts at 5 p.m. on Friday, October 20. The opening fireworks display illuminates the fairground at approx. 9 p.m. Stores open for Sunday shopping in the industrial area and Kaiserslautern city center on October 22 from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, is family day with reduced prices and special offers and activities. Friday, October 27 is German-American-Friendship-Day. On the opening day, October 20, the fair opens from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturdays the opening hours are from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. All other weekdays the fair opens from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. A closing fireworks display takes place around 9 p.m. on Monday, October 30.

Saturday, October 21 – Sunday, October 22:

Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze in Gerhardsbrunn

October is the month of harvest season at Guhl Farm in Gerhardsbrunn also known as Sunshine Pumpkin Farm. You are cordially invited to pick pumpkins of your choice at the pumpkin patch that opens from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in October. There are more than 40 kinds of pumpkins available. Pumpkin cake and grilled sausages are offered, too. Another attraction is the corn maze that is accessible from 11 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays in October. Admission to the corn maze is € 3.50 for kids (aged 5 -14) and € 4 for adults. Children up to 4 years have free admission. The farm store, offering pumpkins and various other farm products for sale, opens on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in October from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For further information please visit the website www.bauernhof-guhl.de

Sunday, October 22:

Ramstein Wendelinus Market and Oktoberfest

In honor of Saint Wendelinus the church parish of Ramstein celebrated the “Wendelinus Market” in 1710 for the first time. The patron saint answered the prayers of the locals and protected their livestock against epizootic diseases. The market was revived in 1986. Today the market features about 50 exhibitors offering a large variety of goods such as gift and decoration items, wood carving, leatherwork, jewelry, clothing, crochet work, scarves, and a lot more. A great choice of culinary specialties is available, too. Furthermore, live musical entertainment is presented on the market square from 12 p.m. A juggler entertains the young and the old with his juggling skills around the market fountain. The opening ceremony is held inside the Oktoberfest tent at 11:30 a.m. Visitors can bring their pets along to have them blessed, also children can bring their cuddly animals for blessing. Market hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Inside the festival tent the brass band “GPS” performs from 11 a.m. Food and beverages as well as Bavarian specialties will be available in the festival tent from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Free entrance to the festival tent. Until Tuesday, October 31:

Pumpkin Exhibition at Kaiserslautern Gartenschau

FUSED members have been on stage together for 15 years now. Five crazy and sympathetic thoroughbred musicians play a rock concert. Proceeds will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Homburg. Stefan Ahme (lead vocalist/guitar), Philipp Tulius (lead guitar/vocalist), René Grub (guitar/vocalist), Johannes Kronenberger (bass/vocalist) as well as Martin Drumm (drums/vocalist) are looking forward to a great party. Opening act is singer-songwriter Finn Raber (vocalist/guitar). With his unique voice he makes not only women's hearts beat faster. Afterwards, DJ Raimar will provide the right beats for the after-show party. Thanks to the support of sponsors, every ticket becomes a donation! The concert starts at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are € 15.
