Weekly Fruit and Vegetable Market in Kaiserslautern
Weekly markets have been held around the Kaiserslautern Collegiate Church for many hundreds of years. A photo from 1929 shows the weekly market on Stiftsplatz (market square), where it has been held since the mid-19th century to the present day. The weekly market takes place every Tuesday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Kaiserslautern´s Stiftsplatz. Fresh and organic groceries such as fruits, vegetables, cheese, fish, meat or sausage products can be purchased. Baked goods as well as flowers and plants are available, too. Visitors are invited to browse around and experience the lovely atmosphere.

Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze in Gerhardsbrunn
October is the month of harvest season at Guhl Farm in Gerhardsbrunn also known as Sunshine Pumpkin Farm. You are cordially invited to pick pumpkins of your choice at the pumpkin patch that opens from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in October. There are more than 40 kinds of pumpkins available. Pumpkin cake and grilled sausages are offered, too. Another attraction is the corn maze that is accessible from 11 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays in October. Admission to the corn maze is € 3.50 for kids (aged 5 -14) and € 4 for adults. Children up to 4 years have free admission. Kaiserslautern October Fair
The Kaiserslautern fair has the reputation of being the biggest folk festival in Western Palatinate. Annually, the fairground offering a large variety of rides for children and adults allures many people to Kaiserslautern´s Messeplatz. Visitors can enjoy a huge fun mile featuring a roller coaster, a giant Ferris wheel, merry-go-rounds and many other fun rides. A large number of vendors provide culinary specialties, candies, products of arts and crafts, spices, household articles and much more. Wednesday, October 25, is family day with reduced prices and special offers and activities. The German-American-Friendship-Festival is held on Friday, October 27. Saturdays the opening hours are from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. All other weekdays the fair opens from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. A closing fireworks display takes place around 9 p.m. on Monday, October 30.

Pumpkin Exhibition at Kaiserslautern Gartenschau
The Kaiserslautern Gartenschau is a great meeting place for the whole family to spend time together in almost every season of the year. Life-sized dinosaur figures are the children´s highlight. Thousands of colorful pumpkins decorate the flower park in fall. The motto of this year's exhibition is “UNDERWATER” and can be visited from September 1 until October 31. Twelve figures made of pumpkins demonstrate life under water. Visitors get to see killer whales, turtles, dolphins as well as cartoon characters such as "The Little Mermaid" and "Spongebob Squarepants". Until October 31 the Gartenschau is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Admission is € 7 for adults, € 5 for students aged 16 to 25 years and € 3.50 for children aged 6 to 16 years. Kids younger than 6 years have free admission. Dogs are not allowed in the flower park.
