The Museum im Westrich is showing its new special exhibition with the German title “Kostbarer Krempel“ (English translation: “Precious Junk”). It presents everyday objects from times past, which tell their very own story upon closer inspection. Whether it's a hot-water bag, handmade cookie cutters or a portable gramophone - each of the exhibits brings ancient craftsmanship back to life. The exhibition is more than just a nostalgic throwback: In addition to the beautiful and curious items, it also highlights the creativity and inventiveness of previous generations and reflects technical innovations using everyday objects. Many of the seemingly inconspicuous objects - at first glance supposedly labeled as dust catchers or kitsch - turn out to be true treasures and everyday heroes upon closer inspection. Historic household objects meet milestones of technical progress, contemporary witnesses of personal key moments are combined with artifacts of local history. Let yourself be enchanted by these treasures of everyday life.
